Electrical Vehicle Safety Engineer

The Global PSM team at Amazon is seeking a highly skilled Electrical Vehicle Safety Engineer to join our team. As an Electrical Vehicle Safety Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe design and reliable operation of facilities that contain or use Highly Hazardous Chemicals (HHCs).
This role requires a strong background in electrical engineering, with experience in safety engineering programs in manufacturing or production environments. You will be working closely with various engineering, design, and operations teams to ensure compliance with local, national, and international regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Partner with Amazon Worldwide Design Engineering teams to ensure new equipment and modifications to existing EV infrastructure equipment comply with all applicable codes, regulations, and harmonized standards.
Lead process hazard analyses (PHAs), assist in the development and review of equipment designs, and provide guidance on requirements for controls and devices.
Collaborate with engineering, design, and operations teams to drive a systematic approach to address risk identification, mitigation, and management of safety solutions.
Develop and implement safety programs to reduce HHC risks at Amazon to as low as reasonably possible.
Work closely with regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with local, national, and international regulations.
Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including senior leadership, to ensure clear and concise messaging.
Travel up to 50% of the time to support various projects and initiatives.
Requirements:
5+ years of program or project management experience in safety engineering programs in manufacturing or production environments.
Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements.
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
Strong analytical skills with demonstrated problem-solving ability.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Ability to adapt well to fast-paced environments with changing circumstances, direction, and strategy.
Experience engaging regulatory agencies and communicating technical information to business stakeholders.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $104,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
