Tampa General Hospital stands as the only level I trauma center in the region and is recognized as one of the few ABA-verified adult and pediatric burn centers in Florida.

Equipped with five medical helicopters, we are capable of transporting critically injured or ill patients from a wide area to ensure they receive the advanced medical attention they require.

Our institution is also home to one of the busiest solid organ transplant centers nationwide and has achieved designation as a comprehensive stroke center. Furthermore, we feature a 32-bed Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit.

Additional specialized centers include those for cardiovascular care, orthopedics, high-risk and routine obstetrics, urology, ENT, endocrinology, and the Children's Medical Center, which includes a nine-bed pediatric intensive care unit along with pediatric kidney transplant services.

Position Summary

Under general supervision and in accordance with established policies, procedures, and professional standards, the Operating Room Registered Nurse provides comprehensive nursing care to patients.

The responsibilities include:

  • Planning and implementing nursing care.
  • Documenting nursing assessments accurately.
  • Identifying and reporting situations that require further intervention.
  • Formulating and communicating a goal-directed plan of care.
  • Ensuring the rights of patients are upheld.

It is essential to perform all job duties in alignment with the mission, vision, and values of Tampa General Hospital, as well as principles of quality improvement.


Required Qualifications
  • Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing; licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Florida.
  • BSN or ASN with a minimum of one year of experience is required.
  • At least one year of experience in the Operating Room is mandatory.
  • Experience in an Ambulatory/Outpatient Surgery Center is preferred.
  • Prior experience in an Emergency Department or ICU is advantageous.
  • BLS and ACLS certifications are required.
  • PALS certification is preferred.
  • This position does not require working on holidays or weekends.
