About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Data and Reporting Manager to join our team at the University System of Maryland Office. As a key member of our data management team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and timely submission of regulatory data collections from USM institutions to various agencies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Data Collection and Submission
    • Coordinate regulatory data collections and validate data completeness from USM institutions
    • Ensure accurate submissions to agencies and communicate changes in reporting requirements
  • Data Management and Infrastructure Optimization
    • Update, maintain, and retrieve data from the USM warehouse and databases
    • Create, verify accuracy, and manage changes to dimensional tables for database usage and optimize the data infrastructure
  • Data Governance and Quality Assurance
    • Enhance data governance by monitoring data quality, implementing accuracy measures, and conducting regular audits
    • Assist in establishing data usage and literacy procedures and formalize processes for data extraction, ad hoc reporting, and internal reporting
  • Stakeholder Support
    • Assist, review, and contribute to data reporting, predictive analytics, and data visualizations required for internal and external stakeholders
    • Represent the USM on systemwide and statewide committees impacting institutional research
Requirements
  • Education
    • Bachelor's degree in Information Sciences, Computer Science, Data Management, Information Systems, Statistics, Social Science, or a related field
  • Experience
    • 1 year of experience in data management, data analysis, statistics, business analytics, or a related field
  • Knowledge and Skills
    • Strong understanding of data governance principles, practices, and tools
    • Knowledge of database management systems
    • Strong analytical skills and experience with statistical software or programming languages (e.g., SPSS, SAS, R, Python, SQL)
    • Knowledge of data governance and data privacy regulations (e.g., FERPA, GDPR)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Education
    • Advanced degree in Information Sciences, Computer Science, Data Management, Information Systems, Statistics, Social Science, or a related field
  • Experience
    • 3 or more years of experience in data management, data analysis, statistics, business analytics, or a related field
  • Knowledge and Skills
    • Knowledge of Maryland reporting requirements
