Rehabilitation Therapy Assistant

The Rehabilitation Therapy Assistant, under the supervision of the Occupational Therapist, is tasked with providing direct patient support, as well as planning and executing tailored treatment programs for individual patients in accordance with the established principles and practices of occupational therapy within the PAM Health system. The Rehabilitation Therapy Assistant must demonstrate flexibility to adapt to the diverse needs of various facilities within the organization. Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


• Implements effective treatment strategies for patients as outlined by the occupational therapist.

• Shows proficiency in alignment with hospital policies, procedures, and standards.

• Guides patients in the proper use of therapeutic equipment as directed by the physical therapist.

• Identifies and provides suitable patient and family education in collaboration with the physical therapist.

• Maintains accurate documentation to ensure timely and correct record-keeping (including charge sheets, treatment logs, and medical records) in accordance with PAM Health's guidelines. Ensures the accuracy and completeness of billing processes as per system, hospital, or clinic policies.

• Prepares timely reports for any unusual incidents involving patients, visitors, staff, or self, while actively employing safety protocols to mitigate preventable injuries.

• Communicates patient progress during care meetings.

• Collaborates with the medical director, physicians, or consultants, and other rehabilitation team members when joint efforts are required.

• Engages in staff meetings and contributes to discussions.

• Participates in training sessions to share professional knowledge and updates on policies.

• Aids in the upkeep of hospital or clinic equipment, reporting any needs for repairs or replacements as necessary.

• Takes part in specialized training for program development as requested by the Director.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Credentials: Must be licensed as a Rehabilitation Therapy Assistant in the state of employment. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is mandatory.

Experience: A minimum of one year of clinical experience is preferred.

Skills and Competencies:


• Strong verbal communication skills to effectively interact with medical professionals, patients, and their families.

• Numerical aptitude to interpret clinical data accurately.

• Adheres to a strong sense of professional and ethical standards.

• Requires good motor skills to safely assist patients and handle equipment.

• Capable of managing repetitive and/or varying tasks efficiently.

• Able to work independently and think critically, maintaining objectivity and accuracy.

• Demonstrates leadership and guidance within assigned responsibilities to enhance team performance.

• Open to receiving and applying constructive feedback.

• Willingness to adapt work methods to meet patient and organizational needs.

• Eager to take on additional responsibilities as required.
