Schedule: PRN
Shift: As needed, with office hours typically from Monday to Thursday, 8 AM to 5 PM, and Friday, 8 AM to 12 PM.
Role Overview: This position involves conducting echocardiograms for pediatric cardiology patients and assisting the Pediatric Cardiologist in the acquisition and interpretation of sonographic images.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct transthoracic echocardiograms for pediatric patients, ensuring high-quality sonographic images.
- Record essential patient metrics including weight, height, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation, tailored to patient needs.
- Evaluate sonographic images for technical accuracy, proper labeling, and patient identification, ensuring all relevant anatomy is captured.
- Assist with IAC accreditation processes, including form completion and formal echo reviews alongside physician evaluations.
- Adhere to accredited laboratory protocols for echocardiogram acquisition using two-dimensional imaging, color flow, Doppler, and M-mode techniques as necessary.
- Provide clear explanations of procedures to patients and their families prior to testing to ensure cooperation and optimal outcomes.
Qualifications Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of one of the following:
- At least two years in an Allied Health Education Program with one year of echocardiography training, OR
- Graduation from a CAAHEP accredited sonography program, OR
- A minimum of ten years' experience in Pediatric Echocardiography, with current credentials in Pediatric Echocardiography or Congenital Cardiac Sonography.
- Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) from the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARMDS) in Adult or Pediatric Echocardiography, or equivalent credentials from Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).
- Pediatric Echocardiography or Congenital Cardiac Sonography registry required within one year of hire.
- Current CPR/BLS certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in performing fetal echocardiography.
- Five years of experience in pediatric echocardiography.
- Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) certification in Fetal Echocardiography.
