Position Summary
The Speech Language Pathologist is responsible for conducting comprehensive speech and language assessments to identify and address various communication and swallowing disorders. This includes developing tailored treatment plans based on clinical evaluations and providing therapeutic services to clients. The role requires ongoing monitoring of client progress and making necessary adjustments to treatment strategies.
Responsibilities include instructing clients in therapeutic exercises, ensuring adherence to clinical standards, and maintaining documentation in line with departmental protocols. The Speech Language Pathologist may work with individuals across all age groups and is expected to demonstrate a high level of expertise in their specialty.
Flexibility in work schedules is essential, as the position may involve collaboration with various stakeholders, including healthcare providers and case managers. The role may also include supervising support staff and providing educational opportunities for peers in the field.
Qualifications
A relevant educational background is required, along with state licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist. Preferred qualifications include certification from the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) or progress towards Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY). A valid driver's license may be necessary.
It is essential to maintain required competencies and certifications, including Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers, within the first 60 days of employment.
