Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Excavator Operator to join our team at Massman Construction Co. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating excavating and loading equipment, maintaining equipment, and ensuring safe working practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate excavating and loading equipment, including excavators, power shovels, stripping shovels, scraper loaders, and backhoes.
  • Conduct routine inspections to identify needed maintenance or repairs.
  • Perform or request necessary repairs and adjustments to equipment.
  • Consult digging plans, machine specifications, and safety procedures for specific tasks.
  • Ensure work is completed to specification by observing grade stakes, material levels, hand signals, and other markers.
  • Transport materials around job sites.

Requirements:

  • Ability to operate heavy machinery.
  • Knowledge of excavation procedures and techniques.
  • Ability to follow instructions and read excavation plans.
  • Ability to complete safety awareness training.
  • Excellent mechanical and problem-solving skills.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of two years of related experience desired.

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to complete physically demanding work.
  • Able to lift and carry heavy objects.
  • Good hand-eye-foot coordination and sense of balance.
  • Able to kneel, crouch, or crawl in awkward spaces to repair equipment.
