General Overview
This part-time internship is tailored for students aspiring to gain professional experience in the Finance sector. The role encompasses a variety of tasks related to accounting, procurement, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll management.
The internship aims to provide both educational and practical experiences. Interns will have the opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge acquired in their academic pursuits to real-world scenarios.
Interns will enhance their understanding of the significance of Finance within a non-profit or governmental framework, equipping them for future careers in the financial domain.
Requirements and SpecificationsEducation
Required:
Pursuing a Bachelor's or graduate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Management, or a closely related field.

Highly organized with the capability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously.
Self-driven with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within diverse teams.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of negotiating effectively and professionally.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
Responsibilities
Key duties include but are not limited to:
Supporting the accounting team during monthly and annual financial reconciliations.
Assisting with the daily and monthly monitoring of cash inflows, including deposits in transit.
Helping with inquiries related to quarterly and annual audits.
Utilizing accounting and procurement software on a daily basis.
Contributing to departmental projects as required (Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Procurement, Accounting, Payroll, etc.)
Additional Information
Work hours will vary based on a 29-hour workweek; meal breaks will be provided; the schedule can be adjusted according to academic commitments.

Part-Time Employee BenefitsThe following benefits have been approved as part of the supplemental compensation package for part-time employees. However, the Commission reserves the right to amend or modify these components at any time.
DEFERRED COMPENSATION PLAN:
A deferred compensation plan is available through Nationwide Retirement Solutions, with a 4% contribution match for part-time employees.
CREDIT UNION:
Part-time employees may participate in the Baton Rouge City Parish Employee's Federal Credit Union.
FACILITY PRIVILEGE:
Employees who engage in BREC programs gain valuable insights into facility requirements.
PAID TIME OFF:
Part-time employees working a minimum of 29 hours per week and at least 1,000 hours are eligible to accrue Paid Time Off (PTO) hours.
PSLF:
BREC qualifies as an employer for public service loan forgiveness.
