About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Materials Scientist to join our team at MonoSol LLC. As a key member of our R&D group, you will play a critical role in developing innovative packaging solutions that drive sustainability and customer value.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development of new application platform capabilities, utilizing advanced laboratory test equipment to perform hands-on mechanical and application testing.
  • Evaluate new materials, existing products, and processes to meet internal and external customer requirements, utilizing advanced data interpretation methods.
  • Create concept models and prototypes utilizing lab-scale tools and equipment, as well as external partners.
  • Analyze, evaluate, and develop intellectual property related to packaging materials and technologies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including scientists, engineers, operations, sales, and marketing, to develop and implement new packaging solutions.
  • Leverage external sources of innovation, including partnerships with industry leaders, to develop technologies for new products and processes.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to other engineers, designers, technicians, and associates on project tasks and responsibilities.
Requirements
  • M.S. or Ph.D. in Materials Science, Polymer Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in development of structural-property relationship models and their applications.
  • Strong expertise in polymer fundamentals and material structure-property relationships, with knowledge of film processing and converting, and impact of formulation on mechanical properties.
  • Prior experience in managing professionals and technicians is a plus.
  • Strong team-oriented professional with good interpersonal skills, hands-on approach to work, and analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with computational modeling, such as CFD, is a plus.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Ability to communicate ideas and information clearly, effectively, and frequently, both to senior management, customers, and associates.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Office, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Sharepoint.
