Aviation Fabricator

We are looking for a skilled sUAS Pilot/Fabricator to join our team at the Dale Reed Subscale Flight research Lab at the NASA Armstrong Flight Research Center on Edwards Air Force Base in California.

The ideal candidate will have experience with integration, operation, and maintenance of a fleet of sUAS up to 330 lbs. Additionally, they will develop checklists and procedures, give briefs and airworthiness approvals, and design and fabricate parts and airframes.

• Flight operations, flight operations support, and sUAS engineering technical duties.
• Safety maintenance during flight operations in laboratory and field conditions.
• Fabrication, integration, testing, and maintenance of subscale unmanned aircraft.
• Various UAS operation via hand control station, ground station/cockpit, and buddy box configurations.

• US citizenship and clearance eligibility.
• 8-10 years of experience.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent, AS, BA desired.
• FAA 3rd class medical requirements.
• Fixed wing piloting skills with heavy (50+ lbs.), fast (150+ mph), competition aerobatics, and turbine operation.
• Prior UAS experience in integration, operation, and ground control.
• Composite construction, hollow molding, plug making, vacuum bagging, and CAD/solid modeling experience.
• Mechanical or Aero degree, FAA Part 107 certification a plus.

$120,000 - $180,000 per year.
