Nursing Assistant Job Description

At the University of Miami, we are seeking a skilled and compassionate Nursing Assistant to join our team. As a Nursing Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and support to our patients and families.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist nursing service personnel with patient care activities and related services.
  • Provide safe transportation of patients from their rooms to various areas of the hospital.
  • Ensure patient safety by verifying patient identification, chart, and sending slip.
  • Assist patients to and from the stretcher.
  • Assist nursing personnel with patient positioning and patient skin preps.
  • Clean and prepare surgical suite and disinfect stretchers in-between patients.
  • Support the supply needs of the department by receiving supplies and restocking all areas.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the surgical suite and clean the operating rooms at the end of the day's schedule.
  • Empties all trash containers, suction canister boxes, and replaces bags and boxes, periodically throughout the day.
  • Maintain attendant's supply room with needed solutions for cleaning, maintenance of floors, polishing glass, and cleanliness of counters and walls.
  • Maintain inventory of wet vacuum hoses, floor tools, and brushes.
  • Mop the floor between surgical procedures.
  • Clean patient pantry and dining area, and empties trash.
  • Returns equipment to the storage room and keeps the room orderly.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.
