About the Role

The City of Tacoma is seeking highly skilled and dedicated individuals to join our team as Firefighters/EMTs. As a Firefighter/EMT, you will be responsible for providing emergency medical services, combating fires, and protecting life and property.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to emergency calls and provide medical assistance as needed
  • Operate fire apparatus and equipment, including engines, ladders, and rescue vehicles
  • Participate in fire prevention and education programs
  • Collaborate with other emergency responders, including police and ambulance services
  • Perform routine maintenance and inspections of fire equipment and apparatus
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Valid Washington State Driver's License required
  • Certification as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) required
  • Meet the minimum medical standards (NFPA 1582) adopted by the Association of Washington Cities and the Washington State Association of Fire Chiefs
