Senior Electrical Systems Specialist

A career opportunity has arisen for an experienced electrical engineer to join our organization at Centrus Energy. In this senior electrical systems specialist role, you will be responsible for designing, analyzing, testing, and evaluating electrical and electro-mechanical devices or systems. Your expertise will enable you to specify system components and direct modification of systems to ensure conformance with engineering design requirements and performance specifications. You will also oversee the installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment to ensure that it is installed and functioning according to specification.
As an electrical authority having jurisdiction (AHJ), you will become an electrical system subject matter expert (SME) for the Centrus facilities in both Oak Ridge, TN and Piketon, OH. Periodic travel to Piketon, OH, is estimated to be ≤10%.
Main Responsibilities:
- You will support the manufacturing environment in Oak Ridge, TN and the deployment of machines in Piketon, OH. Additional assignments may include gaseous centrifuge enrichment machines and support equipment, as well as other industry projects.
- You will prepare design packages, construction specifications, statements of work, equipment specifications, schedules, and cost estimates necessary for project implementation in a safe, effective, and efficient manner.
- You will have experience, knowledge, and skills in the Electrical Engineering discipline; you are responsible for all phases of assigned standard engineering projects, ensuring the successful conclusion of all phases within an appropriate time and at an appropriate cost.
- You will plan, develop, and implement electrical control systems and electrical design modifications incorporating various types of electrical components with a variety of power distribution levels.
- You will perform technical review, system walkdowns, troubleshooting, and day-to-day technical support for the design of a centrifuge plant.
- You will work effectively and transparently with other design disciplines, departments, or outside engineering firms to accomplish successful design completion to meet project schedules.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering plus 5 years' experience or equivalent
- Strong design capabilities covering an array of electrical equipment and systems from low voltage DC systems through high voltage three phase systems and encompassing equipment / systems such as lighting, cathodic protection, grounding, lightning protection, relaying, fire alarm, public address, building evacuation, communications, cranes, motors, motor controls, motor control centers, uninterruptible power systems, battery systems, circuit breakers, power and distribution transformers.
- Strong written, presentation, and verbal communication skills; analytical and computational skills; computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, and Outlook communications.
- Knowledgeable of applicable codes and standards (i.e. UL, IEEE, NEC, ANSI, OSHA, NUREGS)
- Must possess a DOE 'Q' clearance or be able to obtain one
