Key Responsibilities:
As a Radiology Assistant, your primary duties will include:

  1. Ensuring patient and team safety within the MRI environment.
  2. Introducing yourself to patients, confirming their identity, and clearly explaining the procedures.
  3. Preparing patients for MRI examinations by:
    - Guiding them on changing attire and securing personal belongings.
    - Recording the patient's current weight.
    - Reviewing the MRI screening questionnaire.
    - Providing additional instructions and reminders to facilitate successful scanning.
  4. Assisting MRI technologists during examinations to optimize efficiency and patient care.
  5. Remaining vigilant to the needs of both the MRI technologist and patients, particularly in emergency situations.
  6. Maintaining accurate records on the MRI exam data worksheet.

Patient Exam Completion:
Complete patient exam documentation by:

  1. Verifying that all images have been uploaded to the PACS system.
  2. Entering necessary data for Radiologist review.
  3. Inputting required information for billing purposes.
  4. Ensuring timely updates of results in patient charts with provider notifications.

Follow-Up Duties:
Coordinate with the Radiology reading group regarding any delays or technical issues encountered during service delivery.

When requested, provide imaging studies on CD to patients or external offices, ensuring proper documentation of completed tasks.

Manage the import/export of CDs utilizing the PACS system.

Maintain adequate supplies for image sharing, including but not limited to CDs, labels, and mailing materials.

Oversee the inventory of patient care and cleaning supplies, such as scrubs, exam linens, gloves, and disinfecting wipes.

Handle laundry responsibilities for the MRI and Injection Suite.

Additional Responsibilities:
When not assigned to MRI, work as an assistant in Radiology while adhering to all relevant policies. Duties may also include:

  1. Supporting the Injection Suite team as needed.
  2. Complying with MRI policies and notifying management of any inquiries or concerns.
  3. Transcribing and scheduling MRI referrals from external facilities and in-house providers.
  4. Assisting with projects as directed by the Lead MRI Technologist and Director of Ancillary Services.

Job Requirements:
Participate in departmental and team meetings as required and attend continuing education classes as mandated.
