About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Junior Controls Engineer to join our team at Wayfair. As a key member of our Controls/Software Engineering Team, you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and implementing control systems for various projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Development: Assist in designing, programming, and testing control systems, including PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems.
  • Software and Hardware Implementation: Support the development and implementation of control system software and hardware.
  • Troubleshooting and Maintenance: Conduct troubleshooting and maintenance of control systems to ensure optimal performance.
  • Collaboration and Integration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, project managers, and production staff, to ensure seamless integration of control systems.
  • Commissioning and Start-up: Participate in the commissioning and start-up of new control systems.
  • Documentation and Quality: Assist in preparing technical documentation, including manuals, reports, and project specifications. Provide support for the development and implementation of safety and quality control measures.
  • Industry Trends and Advancements: Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in control systems technology.
  • Travel and International Experience: Ability and willingness to travel 50% with some International travel.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field.
  • Control Systems Knowledge: Basic understanding of control systems, including Electrical Schematics, PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA (e.g., Ignition).
  • Programming Skills: Familiarity with programming languages such as Ladder Logic, Structured Text, or other control programming language (AB and Siemens).
  • Problem-Solving and Communication Skills: Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Adaptability and Willingness to Learn: Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies.
  • Previous Experience: Previous internship or project experience in control systems is a plus. Experience 2+ years in field engineering/application material handling field.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of power of control hardware and mechanical design. Capability to troubleshoot hardware systems, components, devices, etc. Strong written, visual, and verbal communication skills. Effectively communicating with business partners.
  • Industry Standards and Familiarity: CEMA Standards, NFPA79, ISO 13849 familiarity.
