At Atrium Health, we are seeking a skilled Obstetric Technician to join our team in the Labor and Delivery Unit. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in surgical technology and experience working in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

The Obstetric Technician will assist with functions performed within the Labor and Delivery Unit, including functioning as a scrub technician in both vaginal and cesarean section deliveries. This individual will provide additional support to the nursing staff through the collection of data, such as vital signs and intake/output.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with surgical procedures in the Labor and Delivery Unit
  • Collect and record patient data, including vital signs and intake/output
  • Provide support to nursing staff as needed
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment in the Labor and Delivery Unit

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED from an accredited institute required
  • Graduate of accredited Surgical Technologist program required
  • Obtains at least 12 hours of continuing education annually, which includes a minimum of six hours specific to obstetrical/neonatal nursing and a minimum of three hours of age specific in-service education

Preferred Qualifications:

  • One year of experience in a healthcare setting
  • Current BCLS certification, renewed annually
  • Surgical Technologist certification preferred (NBSTSA)
