Job Summary

This part-time opportunity will work 24 hours bi-weekly, with 12-hour shifts including rotating weekends and holidays. The position offers additional pay for shift differential.

Job Responsibilities
  • Perform a variety of procedures utilizing a computer-assisted tomography scanner to visualize internal anatomy on neonatal, infant, child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient populations.
  • Support the Frederick Health mission, vision, core values, and customer service philosophy, and adhere to the FH Compliance Program and regulatory requirements.
  • Essential functions include:
    • Correctly positioning and securing patients to the CT table.
    • Selecting proper technical settings and scan protocols on the computer menu.
    • Transmitting images to PACS for interpretation and permanent record.
    • Assisting radiologists during CT-guided biopsy and aspiration procedures.
    • Evaluating CT scans with radiologists.
    • Monitoring equipment status to prevent damage.
    • Performing daily quality control checks of the CT scanner.
    • Interviewing and screening patients concerning sensitivity to contrast material.
    • Assisting radiologists in determining the volume of contrast to be administered.
    • Obtaining informed consent.
    • Performing phlebotomy.
    • Administering oral and IV contrast material.
    • Applying standard precautions and sterile technique.
    • Responsible for the cleanliness and orderliness of the workspace.
    • Checking the drug interaction kit for missing or expired items.
    • Ensuring patient records are complete and signed prior to examination completion.
    • Executing various tasks associated with PACS and HIS systems.
    • Screening patients for the possibility of pregnancy.
    • Applying and proper radiation protection according to prescribed safety standards.
    • Performing other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Minimum of two years of CT scanning experience.
  • Capable of working independently.
  • Possess excellent customer relation skills.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Keyboard/computer skills.
  • Ability to manage stressful work with patients having potentially disabling or terminal conditions.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve minor equipment problems.
  • Ability to recognize and respond to contrast medium reactions.
Education, Training, and Experience
  • Graduate of JRCERT-approved program in Radiologic Technology.
  • MD Stat Certification as a Medical Radiation Technologist.
  • Certification by ARRT in Computed Tomography.
  • CPR required.
Physical Demands

Medium-Heavy Work - Lifting up to 100 pounds on an infrequent basis and/or carrying up to 50 pounds while walking. Pushing or pulling up to 115 pounds infrequently or greater than 115 pounds occasionally.

  1. Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Risk: Category A - WILL have exposure to blood or body fluids.
  2. Exposure to ionizing radiation.
  3. Contact with high voltage electrical equipment.
  4. Contact with moving equipment.
  5. Stressful work during periods of high demand for CT services.
