Job Description

At Huntington Ingalls Industries, we are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer to join our team in Hanover, MD. This is a unique opportunity to work on a cutting-edge software suite known as the Minotaur Mission Management System.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing new or improving existing capabilities to a operationally fielded system. This will involve working on all stages of the software engineering lifecycle, including design, implementation, integration, and test.

The Minotaur Mission Management System ingests data from various sensors on manned and unmanned surveillance aircraft to enhance an operator's ability to identify tracks from various on-board sensors, from both sea and land.

We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in software development, including programming languages such as Java and/or C++. The ideal candidate will have experience with system design, software implementation, and integration.

The successful candidate will also have excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a close team environment. Prior experience with the Minotaur Mission Management System and Department of Defense (DoD) and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop software systems that meet customer requirements
  • Work on all stages of the software engineering lifecycle, including design, implementation, integration, and test
  • Develop and test software interfaces that control and ingest data from ISR sensors
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful system integration and testing
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in software development involving programming languages such as Java and/or C++
  • Strong background in software engineering, including system design, software implementation, and integration
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a close team environment
  • Prior experience with the Minotaur Mission Management System and Department of Defense (DoD) and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is highly desirable
