Healthcare Education Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse Educator to join our team at Cooperstown Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing. This is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of our residents and staff.
About the Role- This position is responsible for developing and implementing education programs that promote safety, body mechanics, infection control, and hazardous materials handling in compliance with NYSDOH and other regulatory mandates.
- The successful candidate will lead staff development programs, maintain educational practices, and ensure that employees receive regular coaching, counseling, and feedback.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending workshops, reviewing publications, establishing networks, and participating in professional societies.
- Record and document educational activities, attendance, and responses.
- Report on active projects, reactions, and progress daily, weekly, and monthly.
- Participate in QAPI meetings and assist in data collection for assessment and evaluation purposes.
- Collaborate with Directors of Quality and Nursing to plan, coordinate, and implement staff programs and services.
- Assist in maintaining records and assisting in data collection for assessment and evaluation purposes.
- Consult with and inform Directors as needed.
- Maintain close contact with employees off work, on disability, or workman's compensation, and their physicians to facilitate early return to work.
- Review incident reports and OSHA reports involving employee injuries and coordinate education and loss prevention programs.
- Administer tuberculosis screening and Hep B vaccines under the direction of Directors.
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Nurse Educator in Long Term Care.
- Current New York State Registered Nurse (RN) License.
- Previous experience working in a long term care setting.
- Demonstrated ability to creatively educate and coach.
- CPR certification required, CPR trainer certified or willing to become one.
- Training in rehabilitative and restorative nursing practices.
- Ability to interact, educate, coach, and communicate with diverse individuals effectively.
- Must possess highest ethical standards regarding discretion and confidentiality.
- Possess knowledge of emergency preparedness, safety, fire, disaster, OSHA.
- Knowledgeable of infection control procedures.
- A competitive salary of $75,000 - $85,000 per year, depending on experience.
