Radiologic Technologist

The Radiologic Technologist in a flexible role is expected to adapt to various facilities within the Corewell Health network.
Under guidance and in accordance with established protocols, the technologist will conduct precise and effective diagnostic imaging across all general radiology domains.
Technologists are required to exhibit strong clinical competencies and deliver optimal imaging results for diagnostic purposes. They must adhere to radiation safety principles and comply with relevant regulations. This role includes responsibility for specific areas and may involve providing clinical training as necessary. The technologist will consistently uphold the Corewell Health philosophy of Patient and Family Centered Care.Key Responsibilities
1. Conduct high-quality diagnostic imaging after confirming patient identity and physician directives. Ensure urgent requests are communicated to the radiologist promptly.
2. Gather comprehensive patient histories and document them accurately in medical records. Provide educational information regarding procedures to patients and their families prior to examinations.
3. Execute radiographic and associated patient care tasks using age-appropriate techniques tailored to the patient's physical capabilities and limitations. Monitor patients throughout procedures to guarantee their safety.
4. Demonstrate proficiency in operating diagnostic imaging equipment and adhere to policies regarding equipment malfunctions or quality control issues. Ensure that equipment is sanitized between patients and that examination rooms are maintained in a clean and well-stocked condition.
5. Apply ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) standards to minimize radiation exposure to patients, staff, and oneself.
Contribute to the department's efficient operations by supporting colleagues and maintaining compliance with quality assurance and control measures. Assist in the training of new staff and students.
6. Effectively utilize hospital information systems for order verification, schedule management, and information transmission to PACS.
7. Maintain proficiency in all assigned areas, including but not limited to fluoroscopy, general diagnostics, orthopedics, and surgical procedures.
Qualifications
- Graduate of a JRCERT Accredited Radiography Program.
- Must obtain registration from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) within six months of hire.
- One year of relevant experience is required; training obtained at the student level is acceptable.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) from AHA or ARC is required upon hire.
- ARRT Radiologic Technologist Registration is required within 180 days.
