The CT Technologist plays a vital role in the Radiology Services department, working closely with the Radiologist to execute a range of standard and intricate CT scanning procedures aimed at identifying medical conditions.
Key Responsibilities- Conducts CT Examinations: Independently performs computerized tomography scans of various body parts including the head, abdomen, pelvis, extremities, chest, and spine.
- Patient Interaction: Reviews and assesses physician orders along with patient history to ensure accurate imaging.
- Contrast Administration: Safely administers oral and intravenous contrast materials, utilizing advanced power injectors.
- Collaboration: Works in conjunction with Radiologists to gather necessary information for effective imaging.
- Equipment Coordination: Liaises with service vendors for equipment maintenance and promptly reports any operational issues to management.
- Quality Assurance: Executes all quality assurance testing for computerized tomography and meticulously logs results into the system.
- Data Management: Integrates patient information with the picture archiving communication system and electronic medical records to ensure data accuracy and minimize radiation exposure.
- Radiologic Duties: Performs additional responsibilities as a Radiologic Technologist when required.
This role necessitates the ability to:
- Sit for prolonged periods.
- Walk significant distances.
- Lift and lower weights up to 25 lbs.
- Exert force up to 50 lbs.
- Grasp and manipulate objects.
- Reach for items as needed.
- Education: Must be a graduate of an AMA accredited radiology program.
- Experience: A minimum of one year of experience in CT imaging is preferred.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with cross-sectional anatomy is essential.
- Skills: Proficiency in starting IVs and maintaining radiation safety protocols.
