Position Overview

The Learning Knoll is a recognized 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to championing quality program-based early education and care for children. We are on the lookout for a passionate and skilled leader to guide our organization into its next chapter of growth and development. The ideal candidate will be a staunch advocate for children and families, equipped with exceptional organizational capabilities and substantial experience in budget management, fundraising, and personnel oversight.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advance and promote the mission and vision of The Learning Knoll.
  • Work collaboratively with the Board of Directors to ensure the organization’s sustainability.
  • Research, draft, and oversee grant applications.
  • Establish and maintain vendor agreements with relevant educational and governmental bodies.
  • Engage with local organizations focused on enhancing the lives of children and families.
  • Achieve and uphold NAEYC accreditation standards.
  • Develop and implement QRIS standards.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Oversee financial management across all sites, including the presentation of annual budgets to the Board.
  • Lead recruitment and hiring processes for staff as needed.
  • Facilitate onboarding and training for new employees.
  • Maintain staff records in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Provide direct supervision to Site Directors and administrative personnel.
  • Manage facilities maintenance and propose improvements to the Board.
  • Act as a liaison with the community to foster collaboration on programs that benefit families and children.
  • Develop and implement fundraising strategies in partnership with the Board.
  • Assist in recruiting future Board members.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of five years in senior management within the nonprofit sector, ideally in early childhood education or a related field.
  • At least three years of experience in fiscal management, including budget preparation and financial reporting.
  • Knowledge of early childhood education principles and the ability to obtain necessary administrative licenses.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to manage staff effectively across multiple locations while fostering a collaborative environment.
  • Capability to articulate the strategic vision of the organization to various stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with fundraising strategies and donor relations in the nonprofit sector.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and QuickBooks.
  • First Aid, CPR, and ServSafe certifications or willingness to obtain them.
  • Ability to manage multiple high-level deadlines and delegate tasks appropriately.
  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends as required.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • Physical capabilities include the ability to lift 40 pounds, navigate various terrains, and engage actively with children.

Additional Requirements:

  • Possession of an Early Education PK Administration license.
  • Lead teacher license or willingness to obtain.
