Position Overview:
LaBella is actively seeking a qualified Environmental Geologist/Specialist for our Waste and Recycling Division. This role is based in our Greensboro office, which is part of a larger network of over 1,900 professionals across more than 35 locations in 13 states and 3 countries. Our Greensboro office focuses on providing specialized environmental consulting services while leveraging the resources of a larger firm.
This position offers a significant opportunity for a skilled and ambitious professional to grow within a dynamic organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct fieldwork primarily in North Carolina, South Carolina, and southern Virginia.
- Perform soil and groundwater sampling.
- Engage in stormwater sampling and landfill gas monitoring.
- Oversee landfill gas system operations and maintenance.
- Execute and/or supervise field activities, including boring and monitoring well installations.
- Collect, document, and organize field data efficiently.
- Prepare data presentations, maps, and reports.
- Ensure timely and budget-compliant deliverables.
- Maintain open communication with project team members.
- Represent the firm professionally and uphold its core values.
- Adhere to professional standards and the firm's QA/QC policies.
Qualifications:
- B.S. degree in Geology or Environmental Science is preferred.
- 2 to 4 years of experience in a relevant environmental role.
- 40 Hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification is preferred but not mandatory.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Capability to thrive in a fast-paced environmental consulting environment.
- Experience working within a multi-disciplinary professional group.
- Strong communication skills, including active listening, written, and verbal abilities.
- Organized with a keen attention to detail.
- Highly motivated with excellent client service skills and a positive demeanor.
- Strong problem-solving capabilities.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and reliable transportation.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to navigate uneven terrain safely.
- Capability to lift or carry up to 50 pounds.
Skills and Abilities:
- Proficient in computer applications, including Microsoft Office (word processing, database, spreadsheet) and Adobe Acrobat or Bluebeam.
- Experience with field equipment such as pumps, water quality meters, and landfill gas meters, or the ability to learn their operation through training.
