Construction Materials Testing Technician

Riverside, United States S. W. Cole Engineering, Inc. Full time
Job Overview

Salary: $20.00/hour for entry-level; compensation for experienced candidates will be based on qualifications.

We are seeking applications for a Construction Materials Testing Technician. In this role, you will primarily operate within the laboratory environment, conducting tests on various construction materials such as soil, concrete, masonry, asphalt, and aggregates related to diverse construction projects. You will be responsible for documenting and reporting the results of these tests, as well as assisting in the organization and maintenance of the laboratory space.

This position typically follows a Monday to Friday schedule, with occasional weekend work based on project requirements. No prior experience is necessary, as we are committed to providing comprehensive training while you earn. Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and previous laboratory experience are advantageous but not mandatory. Your daily tasks will involve performing a range of laboratory tests, understanding, and applying written testing standards.

You will collaborate with fellow laboratory and field technicians, interns, and supervisors. The role may involve physical activities, including lifting and transporting samples and equipment. Occasionally, you may need to travel to job sites to collect samples or conduct field tests, although this will be on an as-needed basis. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, and basic math skills are essential for recording observations and test results accurately. Safety in handling both yourself and the equipment is paramount.

We offer extensive training and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and expertise, supporting you in obtaining industry-specific certifications. Our internal leadership development program, the Stephen W. Cole Emerging Leaders Program, provides pathways for career advancement within the company. We pride ourselves on being a dedicated team focused on delivering high-quality services to our clients while fostering each other's growth.

Benefits:
Our team members enjoy a comprehensive benefits package that may include:

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA) and Health Savings Account (HSA) with employer match
  • 8 paid holidays and accrued paid time off (PTO)

  • 401k with employer match and profit sharing
  • Voluntary life insurance
  • Critical Illness and Accident protection plans
  • Mobile phone stipend
  • Tuition reimbursement
  • Safety toe shoe program and clothing store allowance

For field-based team members, we provide three options for travel between the office and job sites: 1) Use your own vehicle with compensation for time and mileage; 2) Utilize one of our company trucks; or 3) Participate in our Company Vehicle Program, which includes personal use allowances.
