Position Overview

We are seeking a full-time Attorney to join our team at Sweeny, Wingate & Barrow, P.A. In this role, you will be tasked with managing litigation and advisory cases for our clients. Your responsibilities will encompass representing clients in trial and appellate courts, conducting thorough legal research, providing sound legal counsel, and engaging in negotiations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing legal representation and advice to clients in litigation matters before various tribunals
  • Conducting client meetings to discuss case specifics and strategies
  • Performing in-depth research and analysis on legal issues
  • Evaluating potential case outcomes based on established legal precedents
  • Interpreting relevant laws, rulings, and regulations for clients
  • Drafting legal documents and advocating orally on behalf of clients
  • Supervising the work of paralegals, law clerks, and legal assistants
  • Conducting depositions as required
  • Participating as first, second, or third chair in bench or jury trials
  • Executing additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

· Juris Doctorate from an ABA accredited institution

· Active member of the South Carolina Bar

· Admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the District of South Carolina

· Completion of Rule 403 of the South Carolina Appellate Court Rules (SCACR)

· At least one year of experience in civil litigation

· Excellent negotiation, analytical, writing, and oral advocacy skills

· Proficient in legal research methodologies

· Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office applications

· Ability to work independently and manage litigation matters from inception to appeal

· Adaptability and quick response to urgent legal matters

· High ethical standards in accordance with the Rules of Professional Conduct

· Commitment to maintaining confidentiality as per the Rules of Professional Conduct
