Beacon Mobility is a leading provider of special transportation services. We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Transportation Monitor to join our team. As a Transportation Monitor, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our students. Your primary responsibilities will include assisting students with entering and exiting the vehicle, using safety equipment, and monitoring student behavior. You will also be responsible for communicating effectively with students, parents, teachers, and Van Pool staff. Additionally, you will need to demonstrate effective interpersonal communication skills while using our two-way radio system. You must be able to physically install car seats and booster seats, and comply with all policies and procedures as identified in our Employee Handbook, Company training sessions, and bi-weekly newsletters. You will be required to work both morning and afternoon routes, and must be able to follow written and verbal directions and instructions from supervisors. You will also need to demonstrate a willingness to work effectively with school-age children with special needs. You must have and maintain a valid driver's license or ID, and pass CORI, SORI, and fingerprint tests and random drug screenings. As a Transportation Monitor, you will be responsible for performing First Aid and CPR during training and during an actual emergency. You will also be required to enter and exit the vehicle routinely, safely, and without difficulty, and remove snow and ice from the vehicle during winter weather. You will need to complete a pre and post-trip vehicle inspection, and assist students on and off the van in the case of an emergency. You must be able to position wheelchairs and safely install and secure wheelchair restraints, and manually operate the wheelchair lift when necessary.
