BluePearl Pet Hospital Job Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician to join our Surgery department at BluePearl Pet Hospital in Northfield, IL.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will provide nursing care to stable patients, perform physical exams, and administer subcutaneous fluids. They will also be responsible for setting up intravenous fluids, monitoring patient response to fluid therapy, and disconnecting and reconnecting patients from intravenous fluids aseptically.

Responsibilities
  • Provide nursing care to stable patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
  • Perform physical exams, accurately count heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate, and effort.
  • Understand normal vital parameters and alert the doctor when abnormal.
  • Set up intravenous fluids, administer subcutaneous fluids, and operate all brands of intravenous fluid pumps.
  • Disconnect and reconnect patients from intravenous fluids aseptically.
  • Monitor patient response to fluid therapy, including signs of overload.
Requirements

We prefer candidates with a minimum of two or more years of experience in a veterinary hospital. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be able to work independently, and be a team player.
