Qualifications for the Patient Advocate Role:
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assisting program is mandatory
- Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA/RMA) is required
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is essential
- 3-5 years of experience in a medical office setting is preferred
The Role of a Patient Advocate:
Patient Advocates play a vital role in our organization, making significant contributions to patient care and administrative functions. They serve as a bridge between patients and healthcare providers.
- Facilitate effective communication among patients, their families, and healthcare providers
- Oversee daily Medical Assistant schedules, administering medications and injections as per physician directives, including vaccines and other treatments
- Gather comprehensive historical data in prenatal care while developing problem lists and initiating order sets for providers based on established clinical guidelines
