JOB SUMMARY


Under guidance, executes comprehensive cleaning and custodial responsibilities for the upkeep of the interiors and exteriors of educational facilities; either as part of a mobile cleaning team or at a site under 30,000 square feet, while performing associated tasks as necessary.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Conducts thorough cleaning, sweeping, mopping, and scrubbing of floors in classrooms, offices, stairways, corridors, and lobbies.
2. Strips, re-waxes, and buffs floors utilizing heavy-duty electric scrubbers and polishers.
3. Vacuums and shampoos all carpeted areas with appropriate equipment.
4. Cleans and disinfects surfaces using various chemical solutions; replenishes supplies such as toilet paper, hand soap, and paper towels in restrooms.
5. Dusts and polishes all types of surfaces and furnishings throughout the school environment.
6. Damp wipes surfaces of chalkboards and empties ashtrays, wastebaskets, and other refuse containers.
7. Lifts and relocates furniture, office equipment, and draperies; organizes storage areas for boxes and equipment.
8. Cleans both the interior and street-level exterior surfaces of windows; manages snow removal and salt spreading either manually or with equipment.
9. Operates power equipment and ensures proper storage of hoses and cleaning supplies after each use.
10. Removes debris from building floors and external grounds; operates refuse compactors and manages flag raising and lowering as required.
11. Eliminates graffiti from walls and other surfaces; sets up tables and chairs for events in auditoriums or halls.PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Heavy work:

Involves exerting fifty (50) to one hundred (100) pounds of force occasionally, or twenty-five (25) to fifty (50) pounds of force frequently, or ten (10) to twenty (20) pounds of force consistently to move objects.

Physical requirements include the ability to stoop, bend, and crouch; reach, handle, and manipulate objects; possess the ability to see and hear; and occasional use of near visual acuity.
