Join Our Team as a Pediatric Cardiology Exercise Physiologist
We are seeking a dedicated Pediatric Cardiology Exercise Physiologist to become a vital part of our exceptional team. This role involves collaboration across multiple locations, providing an opportunity to make a significant impact on the health of children, teens, and young adults with congenital heart conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct exercise stress tests while monitoring heart rate, blood pressure, and ECG during physical activity and recovery.
- Administer pulmonary function tests before and after exercise sessions.
- Perform cardiopulmonary exercise assessments utilizing a metabolic cart to evaluate maximal work (VO2), O2Pulse, and other metabolic indicators during exercise.
- Analyze and compare exercise test results over time to track patient progress.
- Develop tailored exercise prescriptions, including aerobic and strength training programs, based on cardiopulmonary test outcomes, while providing education and support to patients and their families.
- Ensure patient safety and adherence to exercise protocols through proper instruction and technique demonstration.
- Monitor outpatient exercise programs, offering encouragement and feedback throughout a structured 12-week regimen.
- Assist in the creation of in-person exercise initiatives.
- Engage in clinical outcomes and quality improvement projects.
- Collaborate effectively with pediatric cardiologists, electrophysiologists, and other healthcare professionals.
- Take on additional tasks as required to support the exercise cardiology team.
Work Schedule:
Monday to Friday, with responsibilities shared between two office locations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Physiology, Exercise Science, or Kinesiology.
- Relevant clinical experience in a healthcare setting or completion of a clinical internship.
- Certification as an Exercise Physiologist from the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM CEP) within one year.
- Certification as a Cardiac Rehabilitation Professional from the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR CCRP) within one year.
- Advanced certification from NASM or equivalent within one year of hire.
- Basic Life Support certification within the first six months of employment.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification within the first six months of employment.
