Job Overview

The City of Allen is seeking a highly skilled Water Quality Technician to join our team. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the quality and safety of water supplied to our community.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular water sampling and inspections to monitor the quality of water in the distribution system, including inspecting water storage tanks and pump stations, repairing defective equipment, flushing water mains, and identifying potential problems and illegal hookups.
  • Comply with regulations by investigating, diagnosing, and tracking concerns related to water quality, operating and calibrating field equipment, preparing state-mandated reports, and maintaining accurate water quality logs.
  • Provide exceptional customer service support by monitoring annual backflow inspections for residential and commercial accounts, resolving complaints and problems related to water and water pressure issues.
  • Assist in the installation and repair of water and sewer utilities as needed, utilizing heavy equipment and collaborating with other water and sewer crews.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field, such as environmental science, chemistry, or a related field.
  • Valid Texas Class A CDL Driver's License required; valid Class D TCEQ Water License with ability to obtain Class C TCEQ Water License within 12 months of employment, or valid Class C TCEQ Water License.

Compensation and Benefits

The estimated salary for this position is between $55,000 to $70,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. The City of Allen offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plan, paid time off, and opportunities for professional growth and development.
