Job Title: Certified Nursing Assistant

We are seeking a skilled Certified Nursing Assistant to join our team at the State of South Carolina. As a Certified Nursing Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to our residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Job Summary:

The Certified Nursing Assistant will work under the direct supervision of nursing staff to provide assistance to professional staff and deliver direct care to individuals with intellectual disabilities and special needs. This role requires a high level of attention to detail, ability to accurately communicate and record observations, and a commitment to ensuring the safety and comfort of our residents.

Responsibilities:
  1. Provides physical support to assist consumers to perform daily living activities, such as transfers, eating, drinking, bathing, dressing, using the toilet, standing, walking, or exercising.
  2. Applies durable medical equipment, such as slings, stockings, or support bandages, under the direction of a nurse or physician.
  3. Reviews consumer's dining plan to ensure the appropriate consistency/diet is served at all meals.
  4. Ensures consumers take nutritional supplements and measures and records food and liquid intake/output reports changes to medical or nursing staff.
  5. Records vital signs, such as temperature, blood pressure, pulse, or respiration rate, as directed by medical or nursing staff.
  6. Cleans and sanitizes consumers' rooms, bathrooms, and common areas.
  7. Changes bed linens and/or makes beds.
  8. Restocks consumer rooms with personal hygiene items, such as towels, washcloths, soap, or toilet paper.
  9. Stocks or issues medical supplies, such as dressing packs or treatment trays.
Requirements:
  • A high school diploma or GED.
  • Requires certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of assistive nursing procedures, knowledge of sanitation, personal hygiene, basic health, and safety practices, knowledge of the human anatomy, ability to maintain attention to detail, ability to make accurate technical and physical observations of individuals, ability to accurately communicate and record observations, ability to carefully read and follow directions, ability to work a flexible schedule, ability to work in a team environment, ability to lift and move individuals, general knowledge of individuals with intellectual disabilities, ability to work in a group home like setting or ICF.
