Assistant Teacher Job Description

At Treehouse Learning Center, we are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Assistant Teacher to join our team. As an Assistant Teacher, you will play a vital role in providing a safe and nurturing environment for our children to grow and develop.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervision: Ensure the safety and well-being of all children in your care, using Student Transition Sheets to maintain accurate records.
  • Health and Safety: Be aware of your surroundings and report any potential hazards, maintaining a clean and organized environment.
  • Positive Guidance: Use positive child guidance strategies to promote social, emotional, and cognitive development.
  • Licensing: Ensure compliance with state licensing and accreditation regulations.
  • Teaching: Collaborate with Lead Teachers to implement the Treehouse curriculum, adapting to each child's unique learning style.
  • Care: Meet the physical and emotional needs of each child, fostering a sense of belonging and value.

  • Commitment: Arrive on time, enthusiastic, and professionally prepared every day.
  • Cooperation: Work collaboratively with your team to achieve the center's goals.
  • Accreditation: Stay informed about accreditation standards and contribute to maintaining or gaining accreditation.

  • Professional Development: Attend all required training, staff meetings, and professional development initiatives.
Be Flexible and Proactive:
  • Work Hours: Be prepared to work varying hours to meet the needs of our children and maintain state requirements.
  • Initiative: Anticipate classroom needs and take action without direct supervision or prompting.
  • Classroom Assignment: Be flexible with your classroom assignment, adapting to the center's needs.
Other Duties:

Assist with other center duties as needed, supporting your colleagues and contributing to the center's success.

Requirements:
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: Early childhood education experience.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with Teaching Strategies Curriculum.
  • Certifications: CPL 2 or Higher / CDA, CPR, and 1st Aid Certifications (or willingness to obtain).
