Job Summary

This position is responsible for planning, organizing, and managing the activities involved in the acquisition, decontamination, storage, assembly, and cleaning and sterilization of medical, surgical and related supplies, materials and equipment utilized in the care and treatment of patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct and maintain quality control parameters for sterilization processes and ensure biological/mechanical testing is performed on all cleaning/sterilization equipment throughout the hospital.
  • Manage Sterile Processing department personnel to achieve established operational and quality goals, including scheduling and conducting performance evaluations, interviewing prospective employees, and completing personnel actions as necessary.
  • Develop and maintain related policies and procedures, and ensure adherence to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications.
  • Assist with budget preparation and provide complete and timely reports and updates on activities and achievements.
  • Act as a resource to Sterile Processing staff and internal customers, and represent the facility on system Sterile Processing Council and other teams or committees as requested.

This role requires a strong understanding of budgeting concepts, perioperative and materials management software programs, and Joint Commission and Association for Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) standards.
