Yard Inspector

Join Metalico, a leading full-service scrap metal recycler, as a Yard Inspector. This role is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient unloading of materials at our Buffalo, NY location.

• Inspect incoming loads for non-conforming materials and communicate with operators and drivers to ensure safe unloading practices.
• Identify and record inspection data, including weight, grade, content, and quantity of scrap material.
• Direct drivers to drop-off locations and ensure customers drop the correct material in the correct designated areas.
• Communicate via 2-way radio with the Weigh Master and yard personnel.
• Perform other duties as directed by management, including cross-training in other tasks as needed.

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Able to operate bobcats, forklifts, and loaders a plus.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs. and stand for long periods of time.
• Knowledge of the various ferrous and non-ferrous metals is a plus.
• Quick learner who can follow directions.
• Good communication skills.
• Team player.
• Organized, consistent, and good at multitasking.
• Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation to work.
