About the Role

At Oregon Tool, Inc., we're seeking a highly skilled Senior Automation Controls Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our Advanced Manufacturing team, you'll be responsible for designing and delivering elegant solutions to complex equipment design and manufacturing technology projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and execute control system projects, designing innovative solutions using technologies like PLCs, machine vision, sensors, and robotics.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives by collaborating with internal teams, suppliers, and system integrators, applying Lean and Six Sigma principles to enhance equipment and processes.
  • Maintain clear communication through formal and informal documentation, while mentoring and supporting teams on project timelines, customer service, and technical recommendations.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Control Systems, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering required, with consideration for other engineering disciplines if backed by relevant industry experience.
  • Minimum of 5-8 years of experience designing equipment for high-volume production environments, programming PLCs, HMIs, and integrating vision systems and robotics into custom manufacturing cells.
  • Strong expertise in selecting and configuring circuit protection, wiring, cabling, sensors, and hardware, including safety and motion control devices.
  • Proficient in interpreting system electrical schematics using CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks), and knowledgeable in closed loop controls, instrumentation, and process control systems (PLC, HMI, SCADA).
