Johnson Controls International is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the role of Test Engineer/Lab Manager.

This position is responsible for performing conventional engineering assignments, including equipment or product design, testing of materials, preparation of specifications, process studies, or research investigations.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in industrial HVAC equipment and experience in supervising others with a high degree of integrity and trust.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Performing airflow, sound performance, and electric heat tests based on applicable AMCA, AHRI, and ISO standards.
  • Coordinating the development and maintenance of all lab testing standards.
  • Coordinating shipping/receiving of all Industrial HVAC equipment to and from lab.
  • Supervising installation and setup of Industrial HVAC equipment.
  • Performing troubleshooting within lab facilities.
  • Assisting the Engineering Department in the upgrade of test facility data acquisition equipment.
  • Maintaining tool and supply inventory; maintaining required equipment calibration
  • Directing department activities to construct and test prototype designs ensuring compliance to industry and regulatory standards.
  • Identify project resource requirements, review overall impact, and manage resources within project and fiscal limits.
  • Determines training needs for lab personnel and all employees performing work in the lab.
  • Confers with engineering staff to plan activities and programs, set priorities, and track progress.
  • Forecasts operating costs and develops capital plan for the lab area.
  • Evaluates test data for consistency and recommends appropriate actions.
  • Manages multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Establishes, manages, and tracks program deliverables, costs, and schedules.
  • Clearly and consistently communicates program status.
  • Works with (direct report) employees to prepare annual goals and objectives.
  • Performs (direct report) employee quarterly and annual evaluations.

The successful candidate will possess:

  • Competent computer skills including the use of MS Office
  • Experience in supervising others with a high degree of integrity and trust.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills that apply through all levels of the organization.
  • Knowledge of requirements for AHRI testing with an extended knowledge of protocols for 440 and 880.
  • Documentation and project management skills must be a strength.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and decision-making ability.
  • Effective, professional communication and organization skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership and management skills.
  • Strong planning and forecasting skills.
