Electrical Machine Maintenance Job Description

As an Electrical Machine Maintenance employee at John Deere Horicon Works, you will be responsible for laying out, installing, modifying, and maintaining complex electrical circuits and electronic equipment. Your primary focus will be on diagnosing and remedying electrical problems while prioritizing safety, quality, and teamwork.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work from intricate wiring diagrams and schematic drawings to plan and execute electrical circuit installations and modifications.
  • Plan work sequences and select materials and tools needed for tasks.
  • Establish primary and secondary distribution centers, balance loads, and wire circuits with multiple units and connections.
  • Locate and correct electrical issues, including high-voltage circuits that may require the use of rigging, ladders, and building structures.
  • Install and/or maintain motors, generators, lights, electronic equipment, transformers, switches, lightning arrestors, welding equipment, power and light lines, control panels, automatic controls, switchboards, and other electrical systems.
  • Assist and support other team members and work with minimal supervision.
  • Clean work areas and perform other miscellaneous duties inherent to the job.
  • Work shifts, with the option to choose a shift based on seniority.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must have at least one of the following: High School Diploma or G.E.D., National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC), at least 3 years of manufacturing work experience, electrical journeyperson's card or equivalent industrial electrical maintenance experience, or equivalent Military experience and training.
  • Thorough knowledge of national and local electrical safety codes.
  • Ability to perform manual tasks related to the job duties for the duration of the work shift, including frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting.
  • Ability and willingness to work potential overtime, including weekends.
