Job Title: Heavy Equipment Operator 1

HPM Contracting is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Operator 1 to support project and earth-moving operations. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience operating front end loader, excavator, blade, dozer, and scraper equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure safety is a top priority and proactively address any unsafe activities.
  • Conduct and document daily equipment inspections.
  • Understand equipment blind spots and use spotters when working in confined areas.
  • Report any deficiencies in quality control immediately.
  • Provide various support to the project team and follow the schedule, including excavating for new utilities, loading trucks and moving materials, site grading and shaping, and demolishing existing structures or pavement.
Requirements:
  • At least 5+ years of experience in a heavy-civil construction or mining environment.
  • OSHA 30 certification is a plus.
  • MSHA 24-HR (Surface) or 40-HR (Underground) is a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills, adept at prioritizing and multitasking in fast-paced environments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Motivated self-starter dedicated to excellence and proactive problem-solving.
  • Demonstrates a strong work ethic, committed to achieving accurate and efficient results.
  • Deep commitment to safety, working closely with team members to prevent accidents/injuries.
  • Collaborative team member capable of autonomously achieving deadlines, goals, and objectives.
  • Ensure consistent and punctual attendance, demonstrating reliability and regularity.
  • Complete tasks within designated deadlines during standard operating hours and be available for overtime and weekend work as necessary.
  • Work safely and efficiently, adhering to both oral and written instructions, including safety protocols, equipment guidelines, and company policies.
  • Sit, stand, and/or walk for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift 25+ pounds frequently.
