Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our team at Community Health System. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist physicians and nursing staff in providing direct patient care and health teaching
  • Deliver quality care by offering excellent customer service and participating in a team-centered approach towards patient care
  • Collaborate with the Physician and nursing staff regarding patient care, holistic care involving patient families, and proficiency in order entry
  • Provide clerical and patient-related support in the functional areas of record keeping, scheduling, and utilizing knowledge of office policy and procedure
  • Verify patient demographics, patient record filing and retention, verification of physician orders, and scheduling patients for appointments and referrals
  • Prepare patients for exams, patient billing and payments, and meet and greet patients
  • Maintain office supplies and ensure electronic medical records are accurately updated on a daily basis
  • Set up e-prescriptions under direct supervision of providers, medication reconciliation, and work independently and with provider teams
  • Take notes and document observations alongside providers during patient visits, monitor patient portal messages, and summarize for providers as necessary
  • Participate in training programs, educational sessions, and maintain knowledge of inventory procedures and submit any order requests to the VP of Business Continuity & Client Relations and designated Clinical Care Coordinator
  • Restock examination rooms, lab, and clinical supplies as needed, and assist/float to other departments as requested by supervisor or management
Professional & Technical Knowledge
  • Exhibit competency when utilizing the following equipment: ECG, PFT, In-house hemoglobin, Lab centrifuge, AED, Vital Sign Machine, Nebulizer and accessories, Blood Glucose, INR, In-house hemoglobin A1c, and any other equipment listed on job competencies
  • Comply with job competencies and skill check-offs as part of annual evaluation
  • Navigate and operate Microsoft Office suite products, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Licenses & Certifications
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • National certification of CMA required
  • Minimum of one (1) year CMA experience preferred
  • Current BLS (basic life support) Certification
