ResponsibilitiesAs a prominent facility within CHI Franciscan Health, St. Joseph Medical Center is recognized for its advanced medical technologies and therapeutic approaches. This 361-bed facility serves as a level II trauma center and boasts a distinguished cardiac surgery program, having earned Three Star Awards for excellence in thoracic and cardiac care. We are also a leading provider of comprehensive cancer treatment in the region, with our Cancer Care program accredited by the American College of Surgeon's Commission on Cancer. In 2015, we received special recognition for our commitment to nursing education and support for oncology nursing certification.
Our Oncology unit features 28 beds and specializes in administering chemotherapy, managing symptoms, providing complex pain relief, and delivering end-of-life care. The RN-to-patient ratio is typically 4 patients per registered nurse, working collaboratively within a care team that includes certified nursing assistants. Our Oncology Interdisciplinary team comprises skilled surgeons, medical hematologists-oncologists, radiation oncologists, nurse navigators, and other oncology specialists. We take pride in delivering compassionate and high-quality care. The leadership team in the Oncology Department includes a Divisional Director, three RN Clinical Managers, and an RN Educator, collectively bringing over a century of oncology nursing and leadership experience, dedicated to mentoring and developing staff.
Job Summary:
The Oncology Nurse will be responsible for providing care to patients with oncology and hematology conditions. This role involves implementing and evaluating the patient care plan in collaboration with physicians, interdisciplinary teams, and the patients and their families.
QualificationsEducation/Work Experience:
Graduation from an accredited nursing program is required.
A minimum of two years of experience in an oncology acute care environment or related fields (such as Med/Surg or ICU/PCU) is preferred, along with at least one year of experience in chemotherapy administration.
Licensure/Certification:
Current licensure as a Registered Nurse issued by the Washington State Board of Nursing is required.
Current American Heart Association Healthcare BLS Certification is mandatory.
Certification in Oncology Nursing is preferred.
