Job Summary

The Special Education Teacher will be responsible for providing educational services to students with special needs, developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs), and collaborating with other educators to ensure student success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement IEPs for students with special needs
  • Provide educational services to students in a classroom setting
  • Collaborate with other educators to ensure student success
  • Communicate with parents and guardians to keep them informed of student progress
  • Participate in categorical eligibility meetings as an expert in a category of IDEA-BPL
  • Ensure that each child has a current IEP with the required signatures
  • Monitor the implementation of IEPs
  • Review and write IEPs on an annual basis
  • Provide in-service sessions to staff on special education issues
  • Collaborate with regular education staff to provide classroom inclusion, intervention, and/or modification techniques
Requirements
  • Current Oklahoma Certificate as a Special Education Teacher in a specific disability
  • Bachelor's Degree in Special Education
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other educators
  • Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and priorities
Working Conditions

The Special Education Teacher will work in a classroom setting, interacting with students, parents, and staff on a regular basis. The teacher will also be required to participate in meetings and training sessions as needed.
