As a Physical Therapist at Autumn Lake Healthcare at Pikesville, you will play a critical role in helping patients regain their range of motion, manage their pain, and improve their quality of life. Our Physical Therapists work closely with patients, families, and healthcare teams to develop and implement personalized treatment plans that address the unique needs of each individual.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and administer medically prescribed physical therapy treatment for patients suffering from injuries, or muscle, nerve, joint, and bone diseases, to restore function, relieve pain, and prevent disability.
- Review physician's referral and patient's condition and medical records to determine physical therapy treatment required.
- Communicate effectively with charge nurses, co-workers, and physicians to ensure seamless care coordination.
- Enter and verify orders in the computer system.
- Test and measure patient's strength, motor development, sensory perception, functional capacity, and respiratory and circulatory efficiency, and record findings to develop or revise treatment programs.
- Administer manual exercises to improve and maintain function.
- Administer treatments involving application of physical agents, using equipment, such as hydrotherapy tanks and whirlpool baths, moist pack, ultraviolet and infrared lamps, and ultrasound machines.
- Evaluate effects of treatment at various stages and adjust treatments to achieve maximum benefit.
- Administer massage and traction to relieve pain.
- Record treatment, response, and progress in patients' charts.
- Instruct patients and families in treatment procedures to be continued at home.
- Orient, instruct, and direct work activities of assistants and aides.
- Graduate of an accredited PT program.
- Current PT license in good standing.
- One year of experience as PT in the healthcare setting.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS).
