The Substation Technician II - CDL position at CORE Electric Cooperative is an exciting opportunity for a skilled professional to join our team in Sedalia, CO. As a Substation Technician II, you will play a crucial role in the operation, testing, maintenance, and commissioning of substation apparatus including interrupting devices, isolating devices, power transformers, voltage regulators, and protection relays.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent certificate, along with a Substation Technical Apprenticeship, vocational degree, or relevant technical training. Two or more years of experience, or equivalent experience/education, are also required. Additionally, experience with position-specific software and applications, as well as position-specific equipment, is a must.

We offer a competitive hourly pay rate of $58.59, along with a comprehensive benefits package, including a 9/80 work schedule, eight paid holidays per year, and 160 hours of accruable PTO per year to start. Other benefits include education and training reimbursement, 100% cooperative paid benefits, and a 401(k) retirement plan with company match up to 4%.

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing routine maintenance, minor repairs, and adjustments of distribution transformers, voltage regulators, reclosers, and switchgear. They will also program and repair controls on capacitor banks, voltage regulators, and electronic reclosers, and maintain a clean, safe environment in the oil shop and substation work area.

In addition, the Substation Technician II will respond to call-outs for restoration of service due to substation outage and be subject to call-outs at all hours, including holidays and weekends, to restore or maintain electric service to consumers. They will also inspect, test, repair, and certify as usable rebuilt oil-filled equipment when necessary, and perform oil tests to determine PCB content and maintain required CORE and EPA documentation when necessary.
