Job Summary
The Part-Time Audiovisual (AV) Technician is a member of the Events and Conference Services team at Centers, a professional management firm specializing in facility, operation, and program management for higher education. This role provides support for special events, including AV equipment setup, testing, operation, and strike-down.
Key Responsibilities:
Set up, operate, and strike audio visual equipment in a hospitality environment, ensuring seamless execution of events.
Participate in the event planning and booking processes, collaborating with the Events and Conference Services team to deliver exceptional client experiences.
Provide excellent customer service to clients during planning and event execution, ensuring their needs are met and exceeded.
Troubleshoot AV equipment and replace defective or malfunctioning parts, minimizing downtime and ensuring events run smoothly.
Perform routine inspection of audiovisual systems and equipment, identifying areas for improvement and implementing solutions.
Support internal audiovisual training and assist professional staff with audiovisual equipment recommendations for specific events and future purchases.
Train student wage staff on audiovisual setup and troubleshooting techniques, ensuring they are equipped to handle events effectively.
Document troubleshooting procedures and resolutions for future reference, maintaining a knowledge base for the team.
Assist with general event setup and break down, contributing to the overall success of events.
Requirements:
A high school diploma or its equivalent, with a minimum of 2 years of AV experience.
Strong working knowledge of AV equipment, including sound systems, projectors, and TVs.
Working knowledge of camera and lighting techniques, with the ability to apply this knowledge in a hospitality environment.
Excellent customer service, organization, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Working knowledge of Mac and PC computers, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
Office and events environment, with the ability to maintain flexible hours for occasional events that may occur on weekends and evenings.
Non-smoking environment, with moderate to loud noise levels.
Must be able to traverse throughout the arena and campus, regularly ascending/descending building levels and occasionally using ladders or stools.
Must be able to lift, move, and set up items weighing as much as 50 lbs.
Must be able to discuss, converse with, and exchange accurate information with clients, guests, staff, stakeholders, etc.
Written, verbal, and comprehension skills in English required.
