Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Utility Technician to join our team at the Town of Oakland, FL. As a Utility Technician, you will be responsible for performing construction, maintenance, and repair projects related to our water, reclaimed water, and wastewater utility systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the installation, inspection, maintenance, and repair of distribution and collection systems, including leaks, main breaks, manholes, valves, and broken fire hydrants.
  • Perform tasks such as excavating trenches for repair or installation placement, applying temporary patches to street surfaces, and ensuring safe conditions at worksites.
  • Read meter dials and record readings, compute and verify meter readings, and locate and mark underground utilities.
  • Operate various vehicles, heavy equipment, and electronic locating equipment, and perform manual labor and construction work, including installing or abandoning new or existing facilities.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent and at least one year of experience in wastewater utility field experience.
  • Valid Florida Driver's License with a clean driving record and desired certifications, such as Florida Class B Commercial Driver's License with air brake endorsement and Water Treatment Operator, Level C, by Florida Department of Environmental Protection.
Working Environment

This is a full-time position that requires occasional weekend, holiday, and evening work, as well as participation in an on-call rotation schedule outside of normal shift hours.
