We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Assistant to join our team at Elderwood Village at Williamsville. As a key member of our facilities team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health and well-being of our residents by providing maintenance support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with and perform assigned duties related to electricity, plumbing, painting, carpentry, and mechanics.
  • Assist with and perform duties related to maintenance of grounds, parking lots, and driveways.
  • Handle incoming and outgoing freight, as needed; lift and move heavy furniture and equipment.
  • Observe residents' rights and treat all residents with courtesy, respect, and kindness.
  • Drive company vehicle as needed/requested.
  • Arrive to work on time, regularly, and work as scheduled; responsible for own transportation.
  • Observe and practice confidentiality of resident information and privacy when performing job duties.
  • Attend facility meetings, staff meetings, and required or preferred inservices.
  • Generate and develop ideas which improve the quality of care for residents or increase position productivity and satisfaction.
  • Perform all position duties according to safety rules and standards of practice required for this position, and as required to ensure the general safety of staff, residents, and visitors of this facility.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of all policies and procedures and ability to reference them.
  • Exhibit the highest level of customer service towards residents, staff, and visitors.
  • Consistently demonstrate the ability to respond to changing situations in a flexible manner in order to meet current needs, such as reprioritizing work as necessary.
  • As directed, take calls on off-hours (i.e. evening and weekend) and adjust schedule to meet the needs of the facility.
  • Utilize electronic timekeeping system as directed.
  • Recognize and follow the dress code of the facility including wearing name tag at all times.
  • Follow policy and procedure regarding all electronic devices, computers, tablets, etc.
  • Support and abide by Elderwood's Mission, Vision, and Values.
  • Abide by Elderwood's business code of conduct, compliance, and HIPAA policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor, management staff, or Administrator.
Requirements
  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • Minimum one (1) year of related work experience in field such as maintenance, carpentry, contracting, etc.
  • Current, valid driver license
  • Participation in facility on-call program which may include working "off-hours"
  • Experienced in equipment operation such as small hand tools, electric tools, lawn mowers, snowblowers, etc.
  • HS diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Display of genuine concern for the elderly; a dependable, patient, and compassionate attitude towards residents
