Job Overview

The U.S. Army is seeking highly skilled and motivated individuals to fill the role of a Paralegal Specialist. This position requires strong legal knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Salary and Benefits

The salary for this position is approximately $50,000 per year, with the potential for up to $115,000 in additional education benefits. Additionally, employees will receive 30 days of paid vacation per year, as well as other benefits such as clothing and food allowances, and centrally located education and financial advisors.

Responsibilities

As a Paralegal Specialist, you will be responsible for providing legal/administrative support in all areas of criminal law, international law, civil/administrative law, contract law, and fiscal law. You will assist judges, Judge Advocates, and unit commanders with a wide range of legal matters and judicial work.

Job Duties
  • Provide paralegal support to unit commanders and the Office of the Staff Judge Advocate
  • Prepare and review legal documents for courts-martial, Article 15 actions, and other military justice matters
  • Review line of duty determinations, investigations, separation board proceedings, and other administrative law cases
  • Assist in family law matters such as power of attorney, wills, and separation decrees
Qualifications and Skills

To be eligible for this position, you must be between the ages of 17 and 34, have a current senior in high school (HS) diploma, GED, or higher, and be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. Additionally, you must submit to background and medical screening.

Training and Development

Training for a Paralegal Specialist requires 10 weeks of Basic Combat Training and 10 weeks of Advanced Individual Training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. During training, you will learn valuable skills such as legal terminology and research techniques, preparation of legal documents, the Army judicial process, and interviewing witnesses.
