Job Summary:

The Salvation Army Eastern Territory is seeking a skilled Cook to join our team. As a key member of our Food Services Department, you will be responsible for cooking, preparation, service, and cleaning of the kitchen. This is a part-time opportunity that offers a range of benefits, including generous time off, employer-funded pension plan, and eligibility for supplemental insurance plans.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare meals for The Salvation Army programs and special events.
  • Load and unload delivery trucks.
  • Monitor the packaging, delivery, and service of meals.
  • Maintain cleanliness of kitchen and serving areas.
  • Supervise kitchen staff and volunteers, and report to EFA Supervisor.
  • Assist with inventory control, ordering, receiving, and rotation of stock.
  • Assist with menu planning according to regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with reports and perform other reasonable services as requested by the Corp Officer.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 3 to 5 years direct experience in food preparation and service.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as mathematical abilities.
  • Ability to use commercial kitchen equipment and stepladder.
