Maintenance Supervisor Job Description

We are seeking a qualified Maintenance Supervisor to join our team at Iowa Premium, a National Beef Company in Tama, Iowa.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate and supervise the work of employees in the general maintenance and upkeep of buildings, grounds, and equipment.
  • Maintain electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and related systems.
  • Plan, organize, and direct the work of maintenance mechanics.
  • Ensure production equipment is maintained in a manner that meets company standards and minimizes downtime.
  • Establish and maintain preventive maintenance programs and procedures.
  • Inspect completed work for conformance to specifications and standards.
  • Enforce safety, GMP, and housekeeping practices.
  • Balance quality, productivity, safety, and morale to achieve positive results in all areas.
  • Work to continuously improve in all areas.
  • Ensure effective employee relations, provide employee coaching and development, and make employment decisions.
  • Assure that all employees follow company policies, procedures, and established work instructions.
  • Oversee training/cross-training of assigned staff, appraise performance, and initiate discipline process.
  • Accountable for ensuring that all health and safety policies and regulations are enforced, by issuing disciplinary actions.
  • Perform accident investigations and verify labor hours and payroll report accuracy.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 3 years maintenance experience and knowledge of refrigeration, plumbing, industrial electrical, and mechanical systems required.
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of preventative maintenance techniques/scheduling.
  • Working knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of efficient and safe manufacturing operations to include product and employee safety, product quality (success rates), and cost control (minimizing downtime and waste).
  • Experience working with a diverse group of people.
  • Ability to maintain high expectations for self and others, demonstrating a dedication to achievement of results.
  • Demonstrated ability to function successfully in a fast-paced, changing work environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate throughout all levels of the organization.
  • Solid problem-solving, project management, multi-tasking, and prioritization skills.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, reliable, and resourceful.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment.
